The Vicar’s Forum

A conversation about the faith for adults

Vicar’s Forum

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”       —Acts 2:42

On most Sundays, after the Eucharist and a brief break for coffee and fellowship, there is an opportunity for adults to gather in the worship space for a time of teaching and sharing. The vicar hosts this time of reflection and discussion, often with chairs in a circle in front of the altar. Sometimes, it is a Bible study, on a particular book, character, or theme in the Bible. At times, we follow the South African Bible Study method, using one of the morning’s readings. Other times, it may be a “visioning” session for the congregation’s future development. Or a book on some aspect of spirituality will be read and used as a focus for discussion and teaching.

St. Luke wrote a description of the first-century Church’s life (Acts 2:42), and at St. Luke’s, we endeavor to follow that pattern.
